Water Infrastructure Work to Begin in Monroe

Water main replacement projects scheduled to start October 31, 2022
MONROE, CONN. – October 25, 2022 – Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on infrastructure necessary to ensure continued system reliability. A water main replacement project is scheduled to begin October 31, 2022 in Monroe. The project work will take place between 92 Pastors Walk in Monroe and the intersection of Pastors Walk and Bayberry Lane in Newtown. The project is expected to be completed by the end of December. Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the Towns of Monroe and Newtown and is anticipated to be completed by May 31, 2023.
The project, which will replace approximately 2,871 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.
“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Justin Xenelis, Aquarion’s Manager of Utility Programs. “We will work closely with our customers and contractors, as well as Monroe and Newtown town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”
Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Stratford-based Burns Construction Company will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project.
