BRIDGEPORT, CONN. – April 24 – Aquarion Water Company is reminding schools, businesses, environmental organizations, and the general public that nominations for the company’s 13th annual Environmental Champion Awards will be accepted until May 5, 2023.
The Environmental Champion Awards recognize outstanding voluntary achievements that have contributed significantly to the improvement of Connecticut’s natural environment, particularly in the protection, conservation, restoration, or stewardship of its water, air, soils, and plant and wildlife habitats.
Winners in the Adult, Non-Profit Organization, and Business categories will have the opportunity to select an environmental non-profit to receive a $5,000 grant. The student category winner (grades 9-12) will receive a $1,000 award.
“The Environmental Champion Awards program celebrates Connecticut’s residents, businesses, and organizations that have worked to protect our environment and create a more sustainable Connecticut,” said Donald Morrissey, President of Aquarion Water Company. “We encourage people to submit nominations to help us honor these remarkable efforts.”
The deadline for submissions is May 5, 2023 and the winners will be announced on June 3, 2023 at an awards ceremony held at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo.
