Plymouth, Mass. – April 22, 2026 – Aquarion Water Company today announced the start of a mandatory outdoor water conservation program. Beginning on May 1, this program applies to all Pinehills and Ponds of Plymouth customers. The conservation program helps to ensure a sustainable drinking water supply, protect natural resources and streamflow for aquatic life, and comply with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection requirements.
Under these mandatory twice-weekly schedules, nonessential outdoor water use is allowed only at the scheduled times below. Nonessential water use includes sprinkler- and automatic system-irrigation of lawns, vehicle washing, and washing of exterior building surfaces, parking lots, and driveways. Watering of plants and gardens is allowed with drip irrigation, hand-held hose, or watering can.

Schedule for Ponds of Plymouth customers (Two days per week)
Nonessential outdoor water use is restricted by the Water Management Act Permit to two days per week due to historically high water use in the Ponds of Plymouth system, as measured by residential gallons per capita per day (rgpcd). Water usage has ranged from 85 to 106 rgcpd from 2019 to 2025, which exceeds the state standard of 65 rgcpd.
