On June 15, 2022, the US EPA issued revised health advisories for four PFAS based on new information on the life-long exposure risk to these compounds. CT DPH also issued revised guidance on June 15, 2022 with the issuance of Action Levels for four PFAS compounds.
Below are Aquarion's sampling results for the Newtown Regional System in Newtown and Bethel, Connecticut. The Chimney Heights Well, which serves part of the Bethel portion of the Newtown Regional System, was sampled four times prior to September 2022 and found to be below the newly-established CT DPH action levels. The September 2022 result for PFOS was 11 parts per trillion (ppt), which is above the action level of 10 ppt for PFOS.
